CHIAPAS… A GIFT FROM NATURE

Those who visit Chiapas find a unique land, very different in vegetation, living culture and gastronomy from the rest of Mexico. This is partly due to its geological characteristics, but also as a result of its resistance to leave the roots of its ancestors in oblivion. Also when visiting Palenque this Magical Town is a paradise for archeology, history and nature lovers, it is a privileged space to explore the jungle, discover waterfalls or delight in the view of lagoons and the fauna of the region. Then we head to Campeche, a state with an enormous treasure, its buildings and history constitute a cultural richness that gives us identity. As well as Chichen Itza is one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World” due to its great concentration of wonders made by ancient man, its cultural significance and its location among the 7 best places during the international voting.

Day 1: Tuxtla Gutiérrez

Sumidero Canyon and Chiapa de Corzo – San Cristobal de las Casas-.

*Arrival at Tuxtla airport before 13:00 hours.

Transfer to the pier for a boat tour of the Sumidero Canyon, one of the most spectacular natural reserves in Mexico, it is a geological fault formed 36 million years ago, with limestone walls that rise to more than 1000 meters high, caves and waterfalls. At the end of the tour we will visit CHIAPA DE CORZO, a city that was the first settlement founded by the Spaniards with its Mudejar fountain, better known as “La Pila”, it was built in the XVI century and is a great example of colonial architecture with a marked Spanish-Arabic influence. Day 2: San Cristóbal de las Casas- Chamula and Zinacantán

Visit the Tzotzil community of San Juan Chamula famous for its traditions and festivities, has one of the most enigmatic churches in the country, inside the Chamulas participate in syncretic rituals creating a magical atmosphere. At the end we head to Zinacantán another important Tzotzil community, the temple dates from colonial times, although it was remodeled in the nineteenth century in the neoclassical style. In its interior it is possible to appreciate the curious mixture of indigenous and catholic beliefs. The Zinacantecos are mostly dedicated to the cultivation of flowers, which explains the impressive colorful costumes. In the afternoon, transfer to the Tuxtla Gutierrez airport. Day 3: San CristĂłbal de las Casas- Agua Azul, Misol Ha y Palenque

Departure at 06:00 hours from the hotel to Palenque, on the way we will make a technical stop before arriving in Ocosingo, then we will visit the Cascadas de Agua Azul set of rapids, falls and backwaters of a tributary of the Tulijá River, captivates the beauty of the river, its brightness and intense turquoise color. Day 4: Palenque- Campeche

Visit to the Archaeological Zone of Palenque, one of the most remarkable Mayan cities for its beautiful sculptural art and its important architecture in the middle of the green jungle. After a beautiful panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico, we will continue to the beautiful walled city of Campeche; we will visit the walls that were built in the 17th century to protect the city from pirate attacks; we can still see the bastions, some of which are used as museums. Inside the walls you will see alleys, multicolored colonial mansions and temples; the main square with its beautiful kiosk and the imposing cathedral in front. Accommodation.

Day 5: Campeche- Uxmal and MĂ©rida

En route visit Uxmal archaeological site of great architectural beauty: the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Governor’s Palace, the Ball Game. Lunch and continuation to Merida “The White City” where we will make a panoramic tour: Paseo de Montejo, Monument to the Homeland, Main Square with the Cathedral and the Government Palaces. Day 6: Mérida- Chichén Itzá

Departure to Chichen Itza, the most renowned Mayan city in Mexico. Archaeological site where advanced archaeo-astronomical knowledge is revealed. It has the stepped pyramid called the Castle or Temple of Kukulcan, the Ball Game, the platform of the Skulls, the Temple of the Jaguars, the Observatory, the Plaza of the Thousand Columns, the Sacred Cenote, time for lunch and transfer to hotel in Cancun.
