Acapulco: Tourist Areas

Acapulco, Guerrero, is one of the best-known tourist destinations in the world, popular for being the first international tourist port in Mexico. In its 50 kilometers of beach, you can find two bays surrounded by mountains and two lagoons escorted by impressive mangroves, ideal to enjoy a unique vacation.
The destination is divided into four important tourist areas with particular characteristics:

The foot of the slope.

It is a small town considered a suburb of Acapulco, located near La Quebrada, about 10 km north of the city center.
It is known as the host of the best extreme sports, thanks to the different sports activities that can be done, from water skiing in the Coyuca lagoon to practicing something more traditional in the different courts that are found.
The area is home to a wide variety of activities because, in its sea, it is not possible to swim due to the large and strong waves. Therefore, it is a suitable area if what you are looking for is a little more privacy.

Traditional Zone

The area is known as “Acapulco Nautico” or “District of Old Acapulco”, it is located on the west side of the city.
It is the most well-known tourist area, and most visited by tourists in Acapulco, which is home to important tourist attractions such as La Roqueta Island and its respective zoo, the White Cathedral, the shows of the cliff divers of La Quebrada, and the beaches of Caleta, Caletilla, Hornitos, Hornos, La Angosta, Manzanillo, Tamarindos and Tlacopanocha.

Golden zone

It is one of the largest and most important areas of the city, it is located on Avenida Miguel Aleman, next to the Bay of Acapulco, and to the east of Playa Hornos.
It is mainly known as the heart of Acapulco’s nightlife.
It is characterized by housing a wide variety of restaurants, nightclubs, and luxury shops; as well as mid-range hotels, and hosts national and international events that take place within the Acapulco International Convention Center.
In the area are the Condesa, Icacos, La Diana, and El Morro beaches.

Diamond Zone

This is a luxury and exclusive area recently enabled, it is located approximately 18 km southeast of the city center, between the airport and the bay of Acapulco.
It houses luxury accommodations; as well as large condominium complexes, mansions, and elegant houses, which steal the attention from the natural wonder.
In this upscale area, there is an important variety of bars, high-end restaurants, nightclubs, and places of luxury nightlife.
Here you can also do sports activities such as water skiing in the Bay of Puerto Marques or play golf at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess Golf Course, and cultural activities such as visiting the Chapel of Peace and various art galleries.
