Your adventure begins with an arrival in Villahermosa, followed by a culinary introduction to the region’s flavors. You’ll explore the hidden gems of Bonampak and Lacanja Chansayab, traverse the majestic Usumacinta River to uncover the mysteries of Yaxchilan and marvel at the cascading beauty of Agua Azul and Misol-Ha waterfalls. Finally, a deep dive into the archaeological wonders of Palenque awaits you.

Day 1: Arrive at Villahermosa Int Airport and onto the Mayan Jungle (D)

Your adventure begins as you land at Villahermosa International Airport (Or Palenque City). We will take you for Lunch (Not Included) according to your arrival time. Enjoy an introduction to the rich regional gastronomy of Chiapas at a highly recommended local restaurant. Here, you’ll savor traditional dishes such as tamales Chiapanecos, cochito (a pork dish), and fresh tropical fruits.

After lunch, embark on a scenic drive through lush landscapes to reach Finca Valleescondido, a hidden gem in the jungle’s heart. Finca Valleescondido is a secluded retreat that combines rustic charm with modern amenities. The eco-lodge is built with sustainability in mind, using local materials and traditional construction methods. It features cozy cabins with private balconies overlooking the jungle. In this communal dining area, you can enjoy freshly prepared meals and well-maintained trails inviting you to explore nature.

Before the sun sets, join a short guided walk through the surrounding jungle. Discover ancient Mayan temples hidden among the trees and learn about the millennia-old traditions of the local Lacandon people. After your walk, return to Finca Valleescondido to relax. Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the flavors of Chiapas.

Day 2: Bonampak and the Lacandona Lacanjá Chansayab (The Lost City) (B,D)

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Finca Valleescondido, enjoying fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Then, depart for Bonampak, an ancient Mayan archaeological site renowned for its well-preserved murals. Explore the vibrant murals depicting the Mayans’ ceremonial and daily lives, offering a rare insight into their culture and artistry.

Continue your journey deeper into the Lacandon Jungle, heading towards Lacanja Chansayab, also known as the Lost City. Upon arrival, prepare for an adventurous jungle exploration. Embark on a guided walk through the dense jungle, lasting no more than two hours. Visit Corcho Negro Sinkhole, a natural formation, Golondrina Waterfalls, and discover temples hidden in the jungle, partially reclaimed by nature, providing a mysterious and awe-inspiring glimpse into the past.

Settle into Campamento Top Che, a camp managed by a local Lacandon family. Your hosts will prepare a traditional meal featuring local ingredients and Lacandon culinary techniques.

Day 3: Yaxchilan and Palenque (B,L)

Begin your day with a nourishing breakfast with the Lacandon family at Campamento Top Che. Then, you travel to the Corozal border, where your adventure on the Usumacinta River begins. Board a panga, a traditional motorized boat, and enjoy a scenic ride along the Usumacinta River, surrounded by lush jungle and wildlife.

Disembark at Yaxchilan, a significant Mayan archaeological site known for its impressive architecture and stelae. Explore the ruins with your guide, who will provide insights into the history and significance of this ancient city. Highlights include the Great Plaza, the Acropolis, and the intricately carved lintels depicting Mayan rulers and deities.

On your return journey, stop for a delicious lunch at Centro Turistico Nueva Alianza, a local establishment offering traditional dishes and a chance to relax before continuing your trip. Continue your journey to Palenque, a town known for its proximity to the Palenque archaeological site.

Day 4: Visit Misolha, Agua Azul and Palenque (B)

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Palenque. Then, depart for the stunning Agua Azul Waterfalls, a cascading waterfall famous for its turquoise blue waters. Spend your morning exploring the Agua Azul Waterfalls. You can swim in the natural pools, walk along the trails to view different cascades, and capture stunning photographs of the breathtaking scenery. Continue to Misol-Ha Waterfall, another beautiful waterfall in a lush jungle setting. Marvel at the impressive 35-meter-high waterfall and take a refreshing dip in the pool at its base. There is also a path behind the waterfall, offering a unique perspective and photo opportunity.

Head back to Palenque for a guided tour of the renowned archaeological site. Guided Tour of Palenque: Delve into the history and significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site with your knowledgeable guide. Explore the well-preserved temples, palaces, and plazas, including the Temple of the Inscriptions, the Palace, and the Cross Group. After a day filled with natural beauty and historical exploration, return to your hotel in Palenque.

Day 5: Villahermosa Airport or continue to Campeche (B)

According to your schedule, you will be transported to Villahermosa International Airport.

If time allows, visit Parque La Venta, a unique outdoor museum featuring Olmec artifacts, including colossal heads and other monumental sculptures. This visit provides an excellent opportunity to learn about another ancient Mesoamerican civilization before your departure.
