World Heritage Cities
Heritage Cities are those designated as such by UNESCO since they have a unique aesthetic beauty and for the contribution they make to the country’s identity, at different times, such as the Viceroyalty, the cradle of Independence, modern Mexico, etc.
In addition to the fact that this designation grants a significant value for tourism, it brings with it a national and international commitment, and coordinated actions so that all the Heritage Cities can be preserved.
Mexico has the 4th largest number of cities inscribed on the World Heritage List, with 11 cities in 10 declarations, of which the State of Guanajuato has
2: Guanajuato and adjacent mines (1988) and the Villa de San Miguel and Sanctuary of Jesus Nazareno de Atotonilco (2008).
