The State of Mexico is located in the central-southern part of the country. Its capital is Toluca de Lerdo. Its border to the North is Querétaro, Hidalgo to the Northwest, Tlaxcala to the east, Puebla to the southeast, Morelos and Mexico City to the southwest, Guerrero to the southwest, and Michoacán to the west. With 22,357 km², which represents 1.14% of the national territory.
