About:

This famous Sima is actually a cavity in the earth, with 160 meters in diameter and 140 meters deep, it is believed that this hole was formed by thousands of years of erosion, although another theory considers that it could be a cavern whose roof collapsed. Be that as it may, the evolutionary result of the Sima de las Cotorras is fascinating, its name is due to the fact that in its interior live green parrots that at a certain time of the day fly in and out in circles, a beautiful natural spectacle.
In this place, besides being able to descend more than 100 meters deep by rappelling, the view from below is amazing and something that no adventure lover should miss. You can also zip-line or walk along thin natural rock corridors and look down. There are even some walls where there is the opportunity to appreciate some cave paintings such as hands, human and animal representations, painted in reddish and black tones. Paco Méndez, the owner of the attraction and a man deeply involved in the exploration of natural attractions in Chiapas, has studied each of the paintings in detail.
Inside the chasm is a small forest, most of the trees at the bottom are up to 30 meters long and are species that curiously are not found outside. The most appropriate season for bird watching is from March to November,
where the birds leave the chasm at dawn and at dusk you can observe them entering again.
In the place you can find food, as well as cabins to spend the night in the enchanting atmosphere of this magical place.
