La Quebrada

Home to the famous divers, La Quebrada is an icon of Acapulco. Since 1934, it has become one of the most visited and important attractions in Mexico.

At this sensational site, divers can be seen diving from a height of 35 meters (136 feet) into the waves of the Pacific, into a narrow inlet only 7 meters (22 feet) wide and 4 meters (13 feet) deep. .

The show begins when divers walk through the audience to reach the edge of a cliff. They descend into the sea and swim to get closer to the cliff in front of them. Once with the right tide, they begin to climb the main rock until they reach more than 35 meters in height, from where they make their jump.

The expectation of the public increases with the passage of the divers; These feats are not easy as each one must calculate the strength of the waves and the wind to be able to perform their jump successfully.

Thus, one by one, they gain momentum and dive into the sea, receiving as a reward the applause and expressions of astonishment from the spectators.
Regardless of the hours of practice or the experience of a diver, each jump has an element of risk that requires a lot of concentration. Some divers have had accidents, the majority caused by the strong impact in contact with the water; but fortunately, as of today, no deaths have been reported.
