This itinerary invites you to embark on a journey through Querétaro, discovering the past, enjoying the local flavors and delighting in the natural wonders.
Day 1: Mexico City- Amealco and Tequisquiapan- Queretaro
Morning drive from your hotel in Mexico City to the treasure of Mexican history, Querétaro. On route we will stop in Amealco, walk through the cobblestone streets of downtown, discover its colonial charm. Visit the Main Square, where you can explore the San Ildefonso Parish, a beautiful example of colonial architecture and the Artisanal Doll Museum, a magical place that pays homage to the handmade tradition of creating rag dolls known as “Lele,” which have become a symbol of local culture. Continue to Tequisquiapan and take a walk through the historic center, visiting the Parish of Santa Maria de Asuncion and the handicraft stores. Arrival in the city of Queretaro to rest in a hotel in the historic center. Take the opportunity to dine at one of the local restaurants or enjoy the vibrant nightlife.
Day 2: Queretaro- Bernal
Take a walking tour through the historic center of Queretaro, visiting landmarks such as the Aqueduct of Queretaro, the Teatro de la Republica and the Casa de la Corregidora. Continue to Peña de Bernal, where you will visit the iconic monolith and explore the village. Take the opportunity to delight your palate with the traditional food of the place, such as corn gorditas, traditional cheeses, tlacoyos, or escamoles.
Day 3: Bernal and Wine- Cadereyta- San JoaquÃn
Explore the surroundings of Peña de Bernal, including a hike to the top of the monolith for panoramic views. Visit also one of the traditional vineyards outside of Bernal, where you will taste from different wines, accompanied with artisan cheeses from the region. Enjoy a rich lunch on the vineyard before continuing to Magical Town of Cadereyta and its wonderful botanic garden, which shows the rich variety in flora of the here starting semi desert region. In the late afternoon continue the drive to reach your hotel in San JoaquÃn, a destination that combines the rich history with the natural beauty of the region.
Day 4: Toluquilla and Ranas- Out
Morning drive to the archaeological sites of Toluquilla and Ranas, historical treasures that will transport you to the region’s past and the rich heritage of the Chichimeca culture. In these archaeological zones, you will find the ruins of ancient structures including platforms, dwellings temples and stunning views of the natural landscape.
