Traditional festival, which consists of music, dance, crafts, food and religious ceremonies. The recognized parachicos and chiapanecas participate, among other characters such as the chunta and tuxtlequitas, a great party without a doubt the best in the state, full of colors and tradition.

The city of Chiapa de Corzo celebrates the mestizo integration with a community ritual, the best known and most intense of the Chiapaneco world: the Parachicos party, “the Great Party of Chiapa”. The whole city participates in it, one of the greatest traditional celebrations in Mexico, which culminates with the “big meal” eaten in community. This celebration is famous for the colorful parade of the Parachicos -masked dancers-, the parade of floats that is headed by the representation of the legendary figure of the benefactress Doña María de Angulo and the simulation of a naval combat with fireworks that takes place in the Grijalva River on the night of January 21. Special masses are celebrated and traditional dances are performed.The term Fiesta Grande is because the inhabitants of that city celebrate together several saints: the Lord of Esquipulas, San Antonio Abad and the main one San Sebastian, the patron saint.
