Guerrero is located in the southwest region of the country, bordering the State of Mexico, Morelos, and Puebla to the North, Oaxaca to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, and the Balsas River that separates it from Michoacán to the Northwest. Its capital is Chilpancingo de Los Bravo and its most populated city, Acapulco de Juárez.
Among the state’s natural attractions are the caves of Juxtlahuaca, Oxtotitlán (in which you can appreciate cave paintings attributed to the Olmec culture), and the Grottos of Cacahuamilpa. You can also visit the archaeological zones of La Organera -Xochipala, Palma sola, Cuetlajuchitlán, Teopantecuanitlán, and Tehuacalco in the municipality of Chilpancingo. And of course, you can choose to sunbathe on one of its beautiful beaches: Acapulco, Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo, Petacalco Bay, to mention a few.
The gastronomy of this state is a mixture of indigenous, Spanish, and French cultures. Among the typical dishes are jumiles, aporreado, chalupitas, relleno, pozoles, moles, broths, fish and seafood stews.
