La Nao is a festival that honors culture, legacy and tradition of Acapulco.

It is a feast of color, culture, tradition, “chilenas” are danced, traditional folklore, “mojigangas” and decorated floats, Mayor Abelina Lopez Rodriguez installed the latest edition, of the International Festival La Nao Acapulco, honoring the history of the Port and the relationship between America and Asia for more than 400 years.

With this Festival we celebrate one of our most important heritage: Acapulco as an entrance and contact with the Asian and American cultures.

The early beginnings of the festival was fund in 2007 by todays Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio when he was Mayor of Acapulco, had the vision for generating an international cultural space, diversifying the tourist offer through art expressions. He underlined the importance of Acapulco being strategically situated, generating a brotherhood and bonding with the Pacific Watershed, The Manila Galion united Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan; this bonds still remain nowadays.

We are also encouraged to continue supporting this events, to relaunch Acapulco and the State of Guerrero nationally and internationally.

With this Festival we celebrate one of our most important heritage: Acapulco as an entrance and contact with the Asian and American cultures.
