Naolinco De Victoria

A picturesque place nestled in the mountains, with historic buildings and a mosaic of traditions that have been lived through time; with neighborhoods full of devout and hospitable people, dedicated especially to the manufacture of handmade footwear, a symbolic attraction of this municipality.

Walk through its alleys, visit its waterfall, and the pantheon where you can appreciate the different structures of the tombstones, in one of the most authentic Mexican cemeteries in the country. In November, during the Todos Santos festival, the famous “Cantada” is held in Naolinco where a party is held in homage to those who are no longer there and the living dress up and eat to receive their deceased.

Very close you will find the Parish of San Mateo Apostol, continuing to the house of Blessed Angel Dario Acosta Zurita, where you can learn about his life and work.

Beautiful Jewel of Veracruz is located 45 minutes from the capital Xalapa along the Xalapa-Martinez de la Torre state highway. Here you will be able to discover part of the evangelization route of the Franciscan friars, the first religious order to arrive in New Spain.

In addition, there are different chapels of the time full of history in each neighborhood of the town that represents a bit of the Veracruz tradition; walk through its narrow-cobbled streets, where you will find a wide variety of handmade leather goods that are the icon of this place. Also, do not forget to taste a delicious typical dulce de leche as well as visit the bicentennial Botica “La Purisima” the House of Culture, and the Mirador de las Cascadas.

If possible, move to the community of San Miguel Aguazuelos, the cradle of great artisans who work with clay, making bell women, trees of life, and other pieces.

You can taste the food in a traditional restaurant in the center where they offer mole and stuffed chipotle peppers, pork sausages, chicharrones, pickled pig’s feet, and a wide range of fruit liqueurs.
