This Pueblo Mágico was founded in 1594, during the Colonial Period it was an important mining bastion integrated to the famous “Camino Real de Tierra Adentro”. The characteristic image of this town is a dozen chacuacos or chimneys that emerge among the old viceroyalty constructions.
The tourist can stop to enjoy a harmonious time or walk through the streets towards the incredible historical buildings. In the surroundings you will find numerous workshops and ateliers that offer the typical clay jugs.
This is how the landscape of the region was soon painted by haciendas that today are in ruins.

In this Pueblo Mágico are famous the jarritos and the handicrafts made of clay which are very useful as much in the kitchen as for the storage or the decoration of any space of the home.
– Gastronomy
The food that stands out from the region is the Nopal, since it is representative in many of the local dishes. Along with the nopal the agave is another important element of the local gastronomy. Some other typical dishes are the rabbit with mole de pinole, condoches, gordas de horno, among others.
