Talking about Veracruz is synonymous with Salsa. The Veracruz-Boca del Rio metropolitan area awaits year after year the announcement of the largest salsa festival in the world: the Salsa Fest.

Every year the Boca del Rio Salsodromo, located on Vicente Fox Boulevard, becomes the meeting point for thousands of Caribbean music fans. This is thanks to the organization and call of international artists such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito Nieves, Willie Colón, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, and Oscar D’Leon.

Many of these groups and singers are already waiting for the invitation to be able to sing to the people of Veracruz and delight them with their “tumbao” on the side of the Gulf of Mexico.

In just three days, this Veracruz festival brought together more than 400,000 people, tourists from 30 states of the republic, 12 countries, and, obviously, the warmth of the Jarocho public.

Veracruz as a port, being the entrance of Europe to Continental America, had many influences from Afro-Caribbean rhythms that took root in Caribbean music as the favorite of the porteños.

During the 70s and 80s, due to the commercial success of Salsa, Veracruz was the favorite of artists such as Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoe, Sonora Ponceña, and Celio Gonzalez, former vocalist of Sonora Matancera, who stayed for several years in the city.

The Boca del Rio Salsa Fest has become one of the most representative anchor events of the entity and, if you are a lover of dance and tropical rhythms, rumba, and joy, be sure to come.
