About:
The Observatory is open to the public by reservation for you to appreciate the night sky every night of the year. All visits are hosted and directed by the specialized staff of the facilities, members of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
During the experience, visitors receive guided orientation. They will then have the opportunity to use the telescopes to see the stars or planets with the best chance each night.
The elevation, the dark environment and the crystalline air, make the University Astronomical Observatory the perfect place to witness eclipses, occultations, meteor showers, planets, comets, asteroids, as well as glimpse more distant objects such as open and globular clusters, nebulae and binary stars, other galaxies, supernova and any other jewel in the sky.
Located northeast of the Sierra de Iturbide, Nuevo León, at an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level. It is one of the best sites for astronomical observation in Mexico.
The University Astronomical Observatory is home to the largest optical telescopes in northeastern Mexico. In addition to groundbreaking astronomical research being conducted, astronomical tourist programs are open for tours with comprehensive daytime experiences and a variety of nighttime wonder-of-the-sky viewing programs.
