World Heritage Site: Guanajuato

Name derived from: “Quanaxcuato”, which means "place mound of frogs”. The Capital of the state, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site, in 1988, and recognized as the Cervantes Capital of America, in 2005. Of Mining vocation.
Among its attractions is the Miguel Hidalgo underground street, built on top of the old Guanajuato River. The beauty of its churches stands out, such as the Basilica, the temples of the Company, Belén, San Diego, San Francisco, La Luz, or Casa Santa, as well as the temple of the Hospitals and those of San Roque, de Pardo, the Valenciana, Mellado and Cata. Also, the Pípila monument of 1939, the Campanero bridge, Baratillo square, La Paz, Allende, the Unión Garden, the municipal pantheon, the Acacia Garden, the Florencio Antillón Park, the Olla dam, the Plazuela del Quijote or Villa Manchega, the Normal School, the ex-hacienda of San Gabriel de Barrera and the San Juan de Rayas mine; as well as the Hidalgo market, the Mummies Museum, the Juárez Theater and the University of Guanajuato.
Every year different festivals are held, such as the Cervantino International, among others.
