Yuriria

An amazing lagoon, the first hydraulic work in Latin America Is the natural environment of this Magical Town, complemented by the imposing Ex Convento Agustino from 1550.

One of the main attractions is the Religious Architectural Heritage with exponents such as the Temple of Señor de la Preciosa Sangre de Cristo

Yuriria stands out for its crafts made of tule, mainly baskery and petates (rugs). Having other artisan manifestations such as shawls, corn husk articles or small wooden replicas of the canoes.

It has a traditional gastronomy, the Michi Soup is a classic from the South of the State and due to its fishing vacation, there are meals such as frog legs, Mole with Charales. Other culinary expressions are the “Buñuelos de Viento”, peanut tamales, Atole made of Chickpea and the famous sweet bread known as “Fruta de Horno”.

With two Protected Natural Areas, the lagoon, and the lake Crater, it is home to species such as the gray fox and the white-tailed deer, they are also part of the migratory routes of birds such as ducks and pelicans.
