Day 1: Mexico City – Amealco – Bernal

You start in the morning with pick up in a hotel in Mexico City. Today’s route goes through the rich region of wines & cheeses in federal state of Querétaro. Get to Magical Town of Amealco, walk through the cobblestone streets of downtown, you will discover its colonial charm. Visit the Main Square, where you can explore the San Ildefonso Parish, a beautiful example of colonial architecture and also the Artisanal Doll Museum, a magical place that pays homage to the handmade tradition of creating rag dolls known as “Lele,” which have become a symbol of local culture. Continue to Peña de Bernal, where you will visit the iconic monolith and explore the village.

Day 2: Bernal and Wine – Cadereyta- Pinal de Amoles

Explore the surroundings of Peña de Bernal, including a hike to the top of the monolith for panoramic views. Visit also one of the traditional vineyards outside of Bernal, where you will taste from different wines, accompanied with artisan cheeses from the region. Enjoy a rich lunch on the vineyard before continuing to Magical Town of Cadereyta and its wonderful botanic garden, which shows the rich variety in flora of the here starting semi desert region. Enjoy the impressing drive up into the so-called Sierra Gorda (Fat Mountains), there to reach your rustic cabin hotel in the charming Magical Town Pinal de Amoles. You might like the idea of a relaxing evening walk in ancient mining town, also to reach some of the cozy dinner places it offers.

Day 3: Puente de Dios and Concá – Jalpan

Have a short morning transfer into the nearby mountains to step off the vehicle and make a hike to and through the small canyon of Puente de Dios (God’s Bridge), where the mountain creek has opened amazing spaces in between the rocks, has created wonderful ponds and flows of crystal-clear water among the amazing rock formations around. Continue to Concá, a town that is part of the Franciscan Mission of the Sierra Gorda, where you will have a class where you can prepare delicious jam. Then, arrive in Jalpan rest and explore its charming atmosphere.

Day 4: Jalpan – Puerta del Cielo – San Joaquín

Explore the iconic Mission of Santiago Apostle, a historic church built by the Franciscans in the 18th century. Admire its colonial architecture and learn about its rich history. Continue to Puerta del Cielo, a mountainous region of great beauty. Surrounded by lush vegetation, pine and oak forests, and numerous rivers and streams, this natural corner is an oasis of serenity. In the afternoon continue the drive to reach your hotel in San Joaquín, a destination that combines the rich history with the natural beauty of the region.

Day 5: Toluquilla and Ranas – Tequisquiapan

Morning drive to the archaeological sites of Toluquilla and Ranas, historical treasures that will transport you to the region’s past and the rich heritage of the Chichimeca culture. In these archaeological zones, you will find the ruins of ancient structures including platforms, dwellings, temples, and stunning views of the natural landscape. Continue to the Magical Town of Tequisquiapan, explore downtown, which is filled with cobblestone streets, plazas and well-preserved colonial buildings. Visit the Parroquia de Santa María de la Asunción, a beautiful example of colonial architecture, take the opportunity to explore the local stores and purchase handicrafts and souvenirs such as ceramics, weavings and regional products.

Day 6: Tequisquiapan and Out
